The other three Vedas deal with matters of other world, the gods, the nature and supernatural, while Atharva Veda is more worldly. It seeks to solve the problems of this world and its common people. It deals with topic like leading a long and healthy life, to avoid sorrow, to ward off illness, to vanquish or win over the enemy, etc. Atharva Veda presents a detailed description of the life style of a very early stage of human society, which has just entered the agricultural stage. The importance of animal wealth cows, oxen, horses is much more. New kingdoms are being established. Men want to live happy healthy lives upto one hundred years. Pandit Bhagwat Sharma Upadhyay, in hindi Vishwakosh, says, “The stress in Atharva Veda is not so much on the use of Karma Kanda or the rituals, as on doing right or wrong, high or low, do-s and don’ts, popular beliefs, and tendencies of life. From this point of view, the importance of Atharva Veda is much more, for the historian, than of the other three Vedas. The first references to puranas, history, gathas etc. are found here. In India Government has been taken several steps to improve education quality but government effort alone could not do enough. Everyone should give some contribution to improve quality of education. Like government Indian Corporate sectors has been also playing very vital role to enhance education quality through their Corporate Social Responsibility. This paper explains different Initiatives which has been taken by the top Indian corporates for betterment of education and also explore its impact on Indian education sector.</p> <p>Purpose: The aim of the paper is to identify the CSR initiatives of Indian corporations that has a direct impact on educational field of India and to classify which type of activities are involved to support education system of India.</p> <p>Methodology: This study is exploratory followed by descriptive in nature. The study is essentially a review of literature on CSR. Various secondary sources have been used to support this theoretical conceptual research such as recent newspaper articles, available published literature, company reports and government websites.</p> <p>Findings: Since ancient time CSR activities have been adopted by Indian companies. This study found that companies in India are more interested to contribute their CSR activities in education field but study also revealed that much more contribution and efforts have been required than the current contribution.</p> <p>Originality: The paper shares about CSR initiatives of Corporations in field of education to uplift the education infrastructure, system and shaping the knowledge culture for better future. Implications: This study insight on Indian education sector requirement and the significant aspects of CSR initiatives taken by top corporations of India. At the same time, an attempt was made to assess the trend of improvement in elementary education for the last few years. U-DISE data for the last two years (2014-15 and 2015-16) was analyzed and compared with the baseline data. Bihar showed significant improvement on many parameters of elementary education. Despite the fact that Bihar is yet to achieve the desirable level but the progress is evident. Other than learning achievement in terms of quality Bihar has shown her firm determination to change the gloomy picture of elementary education. The findings reflect a positive trend of upward movement. One of the major recommendations was initiated in the form of a pilot study with the commencement of honours course in English, Economics, Maths and Commerce subject at undergraduate level. This comparative study is an attempt to study the effectiveness of undergraduate English honours course, which commenced at Women’s College, Thiruvananthapuram in 2012. Comparison has been made between the learning outcomes of final year students from BA English (general) and BA English (honours) courses. The sample was tested on similar topics/sub-subjects taught in their course through an achievement test, oral test, extempore, tutorial observation and script play. An open discussion was also conducted with students and teachers to know their insight about the course. Findings of the study show positive impact of the honours course on the achievement of the learner. But, both the groups were found to be at the same platform in communication skill. Courtney scourtn5@kent.edu Judy Benjamin scourtn5@kent.edu <p>As schools and teachers in the U.S. fine-tune their implementation of mathematics standards promoting college and career readiness, the number of support resources continues to expand. One resource focus experiencing significant growth involves sample items and tasks asserting alignment with the college and career ready mathematical content and practice standards. Such samples regularly identify both the content standards addressed and the mathematical habits of mind that students have the potential to engage in. Consistently absent are evaluation criteria articulating how engagement and demonstration of associated mathematical practices can be assessed, concurrent with content. The authors discuss the development of rubrics that attempt to faithfully assess the integration of mathematical content and practice standards and highlight the benefits to mathematics teachers, coaches, professional developers, and mathematics teacher educators of engaging in such reflective rubric-creating activities.</p> 2018-09-03T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2018 Scott A. Dyslexia is one of the most common learning disability which causes difficulty in reading and distracts the progress of the children in various aspects including their academic achievements, and later on, introduces various other complications. To overcome these cumbersome problems teachers need to behave more responsible and prudent when the learners are children with dyslexia. Aims: The present study has explored the views and experiences of special educators towards academic performance and classroom difficulties faced by dyslexic children during the teaching-learning process, and also made an effort to know the need and nature of help provided to facilitate learning.</p> <p><strong>Methods:</strong> The study was conducted with purposively selected special educators of selected schools situated in the Delhi region and, serving the children with special educational needs. The measure for the above domain was developed in the form of a questionnaire, to suit the background and the aim of the study, and administered to the selected special educators. In furtherance of the answered questionnaire, the experiences, and perceptions regarding schooling, learning, needs, and nature of dyslexic children were discussed in details, with the respective respondent.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> The findings position special educators as strategic agents, who actively negotiate a range of obstacles, resolve and handle the problems of children with dyslexia to ensure their learning and continuity in school. They are having a system designed to support them, help each one at some point in their education.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> Particularly, the perceptions and perspectives of special educators forge a large difference in the learning and academic achievement of dyslexic children. In India, the scope of regional languages is limited only to their regions. Hence, more emphasis has been put on the use of Multimedia to develop the mother tongue. The development of instructional material using Multimedia in the Punjabi Language will help the teachers to procure and use these packages in classroom teaching, to make teaching interesting. Also, this will help the teachers to make a shift from traditional methods of teaching to new computerized methods. Due to this, students will able to retain the concepts for a long time as these methods have proved very effective in other courses too.
